Surprisingly for this early in the season, only two top-25 teams have no opponent this week. A couple notes here... Iowa's freefall is sort of expected, but how can they justify putting them above the team that beat them, Iowa State? If it were a fluky win it'd be more acceptable, but the Cyclones pounded Iowa. Makes no sense. Equally confusing is Oklahoma FALLING three spots after getting a win Saturday over Tulsa.
Ohio State and Michigan's drop I felt was appropriate. Only team missing that was in the rankings last week was TCU, not surprising considering getting beaten by SMU, of all teams.
There are a couple candidates for upsets (and I consider upsets to be unranked teams beating ranked teams, mostly) this week. Oregon I'd give a pretty good chance against Fresno. UCLA has a very good shot at beating Oklahoma. And, just for the heck of it, watch Oregon State. I'm definitely biased there. If all that were to happen though, there could realistically be half the Pac-10 in the rankings.
I'm seeing Florida beat Tennessee. The Vols haven't done a whole lot that's impressed me, whereas the job Urban Meyer is doing with the Gators is getting overshadowed by Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. Thing is, Texas has almost a clear run at the national championship. There aren't a whole lot of teams left on their schedule who could feasibly beat them. USC-Texas is seeming like the most likely scenario, unless an upset is pulled. And obviously, the big candidate is now Notre Dame over USC.
